Report on the ROOF INDIA - MEHLER Design Awards - Tensile Fabric Structures
Mehler Texnologies GmbH and the organisers Unitech Exhibitions Pvt Ltd. presented the inaugural ROOF INDIA MEHLER Design Awards given in recognition of excellence in design, construction and application of Tensile Fabric Structures in INDIA. These competition and the awards was sponsored by Mehler Texnologies GmbH, Germany
 The inaugural ROOF INDIA MEHLER Design Awards was constituted as part of the 9th edition of successful ROOF INDIA series of exhibition - ROOF INDIA 2010 that was held at the Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai. India. The 3-day international exhibition featured over 101 exhibitors from India and abroad showcasing the latest in Roofing Systems, Architectural Cladding, Metal Building Systems / Pre-Engineered Buildings, Tensile Fabric Architecture, Spaceframe Structures, Green Roofs, Roof Waterproofing, Roof Insulation, Roof Roll Forming Machinery, Roof Fastening Systems and much more.
 The ROOF INDIA MEHLER Design Awards competition was open to architects, designers, engineers, companies, institutions, students for projects consisting of tensile membrane fabrics and following were the Awards Categories-
ROOF INDIA - MEHLER Design Award - 2010 - Best Tensile Fabric Structure ( Completed & Partially Completed Projects )
ROOF INDIA - MEHLER Design Award - 2010 - Best Tensile Fabric Structure Design Concept
ROOF INDIA - MEHLER Design Award - 2010 - Emerging Designer of the Year ( for students only )
25 entries were received for the above first 2 categories. There was no entry for the Emerging Designer of the Year ( for students only )
The competition entries were judged by eminent industry professionals - Dr Ms Deepali Hadkarm Director, Sterling Engineering Consultants. Mumbai and Dr Prem Krishna , Retd Professor of IIT , Roorkee
WINNERS for the Category - Completed Projects
1st Prize : Construction Catalysers, Pune . Project : IBM Food Court
2nd Prize : Polyklad Structurals, Bangalore. Project : Manipal Food Court
3rd Prize : Taiyo Membrane Corpn, New Delhi . Project: Ranchi Stadium
The winners were announced at a glittering brief function held at the Hotel Le Royal Meridien, Chennai on the evening of 23 April 2010. The awards presentation was followed by Instrumental Indian Classical & Popular Indian Film Music Fusion and a gala coctails & dinner
